Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
Voyagr Navigation ("Voyagr", "we", "our") is committed to protecting your
privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.
Who we are (Data Controller)
Voyagr Navigation is the data controller for personal data processed through this
app. If you have any questions, or wish to exercise your data protection rights, you
can contact us at the support email address shown in the app's Settings. We will
respond to requests in line with UK GDPR and applicable data protection law.
1. Data We Collect
- Location data — When you use GPS tracking or navigation,
your device's location is used to provide turn-by-turn directions, speed monitoring,
and route progress. Location data is processed in real time and is not stored on our
servers unless you explicitly save a trip.
- Route calculations — Start and end coordinates are sent
to routing engines (Valhalla, GraphHopper) to calculate routes. These are processed
transiently and cached locally on the server for performance.
- Saved trips — If you save a trip, the route summary
(distance, duration, cost estimate) is stored in a local database on the server.
- Account data — If you sign in, your email address and
display name are managed by Supabase (our authentication provider).
- Preferences — Settings such as vehicle type, units, and
theme are stored in your browser's local storage.
- Account sync (only if you sign in) — When you are signed
in, your settings and saved routes can be synced to your account so they are
available on your other signed-in devices. Recent destinations used for search
autocomplete remain on the device and are not synced.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- We do not sell or share your personal data with advertisers.
- We do not use tracking pixels, fingerprinting, or cross-site tracking.
- We do not collect contacts, messages, photos, or files from your device.
3. Third-Party Services
Voyagr uses the following third-party services that may process data according
to their own privacy policies:
Where these providers process personal data on our behalf (for example our
authentication and hosting providers), they act as our processors under appropriate
data protection terms.
4. Lawful Bases for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Performance of a contract / providing the service you request
— e.g. calculating a route, showing your position, or saving a trip you ask us
to save.
- Consent — e.g. accessing your device location, or creating
and syncing an account. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Location
Permission and Your Rights).
- Legitimate interests — e.g. keeping the service secure,
preventing abuse, and maintaining reliability, balanced against your rights.
5. Location Permission
Voyagr requests location access only when you actively use GPS tracking or
navigation. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device or browser
settings. The app functions without location access (route planning, cost estimation)
but real-time navigation features require it.
6. Data Storage, Retention and Security
- Preferences and recent destinations are stored locally in your browser and remain
on your device until you clear site data (for signed-in users, settings and saved
routes may also sync to your account — see below).
- Trip history you save while signed in is stored in a server-side database linked
to your account.
- All communication uses HTTPS encryption.
- Retention: Saved trips and account data are kept until you delete
them or close your account, after which they are removed within a reasonable period.
Route requests are processed transiently and only short-term server caching is used
for performance; this cache is not used to profile you. Data held only in your browser
stays until you clear it.
- You can delete your data at any time from within the app, or by contacting us.
7. International Data Transfers
Some of our providers (for example our authentication and hosting providers) may
store or process data on servers located outside the UK or European Economic Area.
Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as UK/EU Standard
Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision — so that your data receives an
equivalent level of protection.
8. Children's Privacy
Voyagr is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from
children.
9. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Withdraw consent for location tracking or account sync at any time
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at
ico.org.uk
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this
page with an updated date.
11. Contact
If you have questions about this privacy policy or your data, please contact us at
the email address provided in the app's settings.
